Hello everyone. We've been home since Wednesday night. We had been in the hospital for nine days.Hell week as I'm calling it.
I can't thank and praise the Lord enough for His intervention in saving my beloved Andrew's life. I want to thank each of you for your prayers. Prayer saved my sweethearts life.
What happened is that Andrew's Appendix had ruptured and was like that for two days.We didn't know it. Andrew's tolerance to pain is extremely high.By the time he got into the E.R. his temp was 105 and was rushed in for emergency surgery of which lasted for 2.5 hours. It was bad.
It got so bad, he was moved into ICU. They put a CPAP machine on him of which he fought violently. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPAP They ended up having to heavily sedate him and the only way he would cooperate at all in anything, is if I was constantly present. Needless to say, I lived with him in the hospital the entire time he was there. Even when he was under, he knew when I left. Andrew's very strong willed. When he was on CPAP, I had to go to the bathroom. I couldn't wait anymore. I'm in the bathroom when a nurse frantically tells me to please come back, that as soon as I left the room he went nuts. He flew up off the bed and tried taking everything off.
His vitals were failing fast and so I was asked whether to put him on Life Support or not. I told them yes. He was on that for 3 days. I lived in ICU praying that my Andrew wouldn't die. I read the Bible and sang Hymns to him. I wish this experience on NOBODY.
There's so much more to tell, but it would take pages, so I will leave it at that. The Surgeon, the nurses, the Respitory Therapists, they were all wonderful. They allowed me to actually work with them in caring for and saving Andrew's life. They'd tell me what to do and I did it.
I'm going to look into being a Respitory Therapist. That was fascinating the way they were able to go into Andrew's Lungs and get all that horrible infection out.Tammy and Vanessa worked on him ALL NIGHT long. They were OUTSTANDING. I sat there in ICU and watched them intently. I learned so much these past days. An experience I will NEVER forget.
I'm taking care of Andrew now. Making sure he's continuing his Antibiotics and I clean his dressings from surgery. They are healing quite nicely.
We go in this next Wednesday for Post-Op follow-up. Thank you precious Jesus for saving my Andrew's life.
