The issue of homosexual marriage is an intriguing one indeed. Even some neo-conservative Christians(latent liberals) are still crying out to big momma government to save them from the sodomites.
I don't know what their concern is, since their fears are without foundation. Why would anyone of faith want to intrude upon other belief systems? Why would a true conservative want to go to the federal level or procure a Constitutional Amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman for life?
This monogamy concept of biblical proportions does not even fit most of society and/or the serial no-fault polyandrous far-left, liberal females.
It is obvious that the bible considers polyandry(having more than one husband is adultery) as sin. Many Christian women today unconsciously live in a state of spiritual fornication because they have divorced their husbands in other than scriptural criteria. A marriage license cannot remedy that problem.
We must differentiate between Christian sanctified marriages and civil unsanctified marriages. A marriage can be legitimate or legal under civil law following the bible and yet be unsanctified under God's law if the wife has severed the bond contrary to the husband's wishes - Numbers 30:13. These marriages are different.
Marriage by becoming one flesh only requires sexual relations - Deuteronomy 22:28-29 for the Christian. You have sex you marry her. A license is not required to sanctify a marriage and neither can a license or a new law sanctify an illegitimate marriage under a much higher law. Therefore the idea that changing man's law can make homosexual marriages sanctified by God is ludricrous. If licenses could sanctify heterosexual marriages under civil law then licenses could sanctify homosexual marriages. God is the sanctifier.
Our rights to marry and all other rights under the Constitution and the Bill of Rights do not come from men but from God. Our government didn't give us our rights or sanctify our marriages and neither can the government approve of them or disapprove of them. They do not have that authority.
Homosexual marriages may become as one flesh or l'basar echad but that will not make them sanctified or blessed. It will merely drain funds from the people against those perverted acts and the economy will slide under even farther.
Sometimes it is best to let sinners have their way, instead of trying to restrain them. The school of hard knocks sometimes is what is needed to recognize the consequences of their endeavors. Foley is an example of one homosexual confusing a whole party and bringing the party down slowly as the Titanic went down slowly. The other party was already in the mud. A little dredging is necessary so clean water can come in.
Up until after the Civil War there were no marriage licenses. Later mixed marriages were happening and licenses began to surface. However the church did just fine sanctifying marriages on its own without the help of the state or federal government. Witnesses were needed. The father gave the daughter away and all is fine. Only the application of atoning blood can sanctify a marriage bed for a Christian. A license is not needed.
The church doesn't need tax exempt status to preach against homosexuality. I don't know why the church let the government get its foot in the door on marriage to begin with. I think it could have to do with money and serving Baal and Jesus at the same time.
I think it might do the homosexuals a little good to get that little piece of paper and the benefits of the taxpaper and then watch the economy go down just like Foley did and the Republican party. Sin is a big weight.
The Titanic was strong but the iceberg hit in the right place. They said God could not even sink that ship. The Romans thought nothing could sink their nation either.
A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. Just as the prices go up in our economy and we use currency not backed by anything but digits(counterfeit money) to buy goods on credit from the international banks, the marriage license, without God's approval, backed by nothing, cannot sanctify anything or make it legitimate morally, ethically or even according to human nature - natural.
Remember in the church, one of the parties in marriage must have faith in God and the blood applied or the children remain unclean and the sins of the fathers are projected on unto the second and third generations. Their children will reap worse than they did for disobeying, not only natural law, but spiritual biblical law as well. It is not nice to fool with Father Jesus and His natural laws.
It is my hope that the liberals that want to bring down the Republican party now get their wish.
If the liberals get in, the pandora's box is open and they will not be able to get it shut. There is no turning back except in God.
The neo-cons have tried to play savior to the liberal left without the moral high ground and have accepted homosexuality into their midst. It is time for the ship to sink.
A Constitutional Amendment protecting the natural family of one man and one woman would stifle the polygynous marriages. It would give the government the power to define marriage. Even the appearance of the need for government approval before church marriages can be legitimate is deceptive in and of itself. It is totally unbiblical. Only the church through Christ for the Christian can sanctify the fornicating marriage bed.
Just as the blood had to be applied on the doorposts to ward off the death angel in the Old Testament the house of the unsaved or unsanctified marriage will not have the blood. The death angel will reign. For without Me(Christ) ye can do nothing. All have sinned.
