spelling and grammar corrected Putting it into "modern" English would surely weaken the meaning of those statements plainly presented in the leader board and the following reply. Message #2 is irrefutable. It is God's own law that the author declares that society must adhere to and this law is not dead, as some would have us to believe, but the consequences of its abuse are manifest in society today. It is not a ceremonial law that has waxed old from the using by any stretch of the imagination, but a law that has been swept under the carpet of New Age Ignorance established by worldly men in direct rebellion to God. Failure to adhere to this law empowers deliberate compromise with the enemies of God, that men and women might both avoid the full responsibilities of marriage that we clearly see today have all but completely destroyed North American society. The only laws of God that no longer actively apply to us today are those ceremonial laws (touch not, taste not, handle not) contained in the ordinances of the Levitical priesthood, which was fulfilled by the perfect sacrifice of Christ. (Ephesians 2:15; Colossians 2:15 - 23; Hebrews 9) I would go so far as to say that in principle, even these archaic laws are not abolished in the sense that even the divine ordinances of a changeless God have perished, but that the TYPE and SHADOW of these practices has passed on to reveal us an even more glorious and greater law of love, containing all those principles adhered to in the observance of those ceremonies which have waxed old and have no further function in the body of Christ. God is a spirit. Although the Levitical priesthood has passed on, people today still marry as Jesus said they would. Our examples pertaining to godly and holy matrimony can only be established SOLA SCRIPTURA if we are to be sure that we are living according to the will of God and not according to the commandments and doctrines of men. Many "well meaning" churchgoers still adhere to Roman Catholic laws, which are not contained in the scripture. Mandatory monogamy is in fact, only one of those many laws that are not from ON HIGH. The scriptures are our only sure source concerning those godly ordinances pertaining to marriage. These laws have not waxed away, they are not reduced to the Levitical laws of the priesthood, they are not dietary laws, and they are not antiquated if we would agree that modern laws generated by ungodly men, who dare to call themselves "ministers" do not replace the living laws of God. Any church that fails to preach this doctrine falls short of the mark. Any church that fails to embrace this Old Testament law to keep it alive in spirit and in truth may as well furnish their congregation with New Testaments and ban all those Bibles that contain the Old Testament from the church. If they truly believe that all of God's Old Testament laws (including the Ten Commandments) are waxed old and no longer apply to our society today, then they ought to live by their anathema to refrain from their current hypocrisy of accusing and excusing one another like the gentiles that they are. For those who disagree, take out the scissors and start cutting... there is no telling where those scissors might take you in the end. You may as well burn your Bible and be done with it. |
