This board is to discuss our views on the
politics of the world

I must say here that I have seen groups break
apart because of this subject matter .
I think this is a very relevant issue that effects all of us today!

Just show others respect and understanding
if their views differ from yours is all that I ask!

Lets the games begin!!

Ex & All  --  I totally agree with you Ex as far as the purpose & spirit of this type of subject matter---As we do on our other threads, we must continue to be nonjudgemental on a personal level---We're all entitled to our own opinions & this subject can be extremely sensitive & potentially divisive---so lets use our common sense & have some fun & intellectual stimulation with some current events----Get on the soapbox & lets hear how you see the world.....

Indigo,  I was reading your post to ex, and also the one to Flap.
I can actually feel excitement in your words.
I am so curious to hear some of the opinions of the Canadians.
I have met alot of them and I haven't heard one of them say a decent word about Bush.
Maybe us in US should of have all of you from Canada do the voting for us, lol.
Love Karen

Hi Lovingmom,

I am a Canadian, and I don't know a single person up here who supports Bush. We are all looking south, feeling horrified and scared by what's going on, and realizing that we are geographically way too close for comfort. It's really scary, because the current US governent is on a nationalistic rampage, thinly veiled as "war on terrorism,' and the media are backing this, and targeting people on emotional areas that get them acting without thinking (such as religion). So Bush et al is planning to sweep through the world spreading extreme religious right wing propaganda, and he doesn't even have the support of half the American people! I really hope China steps up and stops him, but their political front is kinda scary also. I don't know how this could be reality, it's so straight out of the dystopic visions of 1984, but it's happening, and no one is stopping it. I wish we could vote up here in Canada, because what happens in the US directly effects us. Actually, the US electoral college system is pretty screwed also - I understand how it works, but someone explain to me how it can possibly be fair to have less than half the popular vote, and still hold the mosts seats - that not very democratic! (In Canada the election system is very different). Anyways, enough of my rant, but the short answer is all the Canadian I know are baffled and scared by Bush.

curiosity,
I'm allot like marco where I'm a product of the sixties and I was one of the young rebels trying to make radical changes in the system. Hey marco I believe we are more in agreement most of the times than we realize!!!!
Today my political views may be similar but my priorities have shifted due to maturity and wisdom and I have always disliked the use of labels but society forces it upon you. I don't believe in attacking countries unless they are the aggressors or we are in peril due to a pending attack.I don't believe we should be the international guard-dog ,nor should we help other nations before we solve our own internal problems here in the usa.
I believe noone should be denied medical treatment nor should anyone be without food, shelter and employment. Now if it's important to put a label on that then go ahead but I would rather label myself as the C word (compassionate).

And curiosity I am also concern with the present administration and the path that they are taking.

Hey Claude- I never doubted for a moment that we're in agreement more times than not.  It's just that you don't realize it, LOL.

I personally loved PoliticsDperStyl aka Politics Deeper Style...although I will say Politics Diaper Style is more befitting the Bush administration.

What a hoot...

Hey Sha- I thought it meant "politics doper style" but your interpretation is just as valid as dopers tend to be deeper anyway.  And of course could be that it is politics deeper style and I'm just clueless.  Either way I agree that Diaper style is right on target these days......
