Good Morning and Happy Mothers Day
I am trying to locate information om my grandmothers brother, Samuel Elliott Gibbs born 12 Feb 1880 in Adams Co., Illinois, died 6 Oct 1958 in Cook Co.  He married Ann Motherway 21 June 1905 in Cook Co.  Ann was born about 1884.  Would like to find out where they are buried.  I believe they lived in the Chatham Park area.  I also believe they had a daughter Irene who married an Albert Pass??
Sam was retired from the Railroad but I have no idea which one.  Any ideas as to where to search railroads.

MICHAEL MOTHERWAY

and his family moved from Chicago to Kappa in 1859 and have lived here ever since. Mr. Motherway is noted for his honesty and industry. His many friends hope that he and his estimable wife and family may live here for 27 more years.

In that 1880 census, both Michael and his wife were born in Ireland.  He was a Railroad Trackman.  The oldest son in the household,  John, was born in Illinois 22 years prior, about 1858.  All the other children were also born in Illinois.

Can any one tell me where I can send for a Pension Record for the War of 1812?

I just found out that my gt gt gt grandfather, Aaron Gibbs was in the War of 1812.  He enlisted in New York and I believe he died in Wayne County but have no proof.  His wife, Mary Clark was listed as having lived in Wayne Co., New York and Fall Creek, Illinois.  She is buried in Mendon, Adams Co,. Illinois.  I was fortunate to be able to visit the cemetery about 4 years ago.  The birth and death date were on the side of the Barclay stone.  Later I learned there was another stone which said Grandmother that marked exactly where she was buried.

If anyone is researching this family I would love to exchange information.

Resurrection Cemetery is a hugh cemetery. You can try contacting the office for a map and location of burial, but the place is like a maze. My grandparents are buried there and I know I could never find their graves without a map. Oh, a bit of trivia, the cemetery is known to be haunted by the infamous "Ressurrection Mary" ghost.

Railroad in IL? Started out as Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy, became Burlington Northern, and is now with ATSF, I think.  If he retired from there maybe they have records<<<  Good luck.  DEE

Mr. and Mrs Samuel E. Gibbs, 773 W. 81st  St. announce the engagement of gtheir daughter, Margaret Irene to Albert A Pass, son of Mr and Mrs. Anthony Pass, 11557, LaSalle St.

No date has been set for the wedding.

I did not find a death record for Samuel E. or Ann Gibbs,  and no Samuel anything Gibbs in 1958.  I did see several Annas.

So to see if I am looking at the right folks, I went to the 1930 Cook Co. census.
Samuel E., Anna, and Margaret I Gibbs and Michael Motherway were all living on 81st street and Samuel was a machinist for the railroad.  Margaret was a payroll clerk for Public Service.

Here are the results for Annas:

GIBBS, ANNA Death 6011745 4/26/1924
GIBBS, ANNA Death 6005519 2/24/1926
GIBBS, ANNA M Death 16017 6/2/1942
GIBBS, ANNA WILHELIMA Death 6000363 1/4/1955
GIBBS, ANNA H Death 58907 8/29/1961
GIBBS, ANNA Death 633125 5/11/1965

When he registered for the WWI draft, Samuel was working for the C & E  ?Rail Road at the yard center round house.  His nearest relative was Mrs. Anna Gibbs and they were living at 733 W 81st Street.

Does any one have a subscription to Ancestry?

If you do, could you please do a search for Aaron Gibbs and wife Mary Clark.  They lived in New York and I believe he died there in 1846.  Mary moved to Mendon, Adams County, Illinois With her son Aaron Swain Gibbs sometime after 1846 and died in Adams Co., Ill in 1885.  According to census, Aaron Sr. was born in NJ as was his wife Mary.  I cannot find any records on Gen Web for Wayne Co NY or anywhere else.

Thank you so much for all of your help
