Autumn is upon us - my favorite time of year- thought I would share our GREAT Day we just had.

It was above normal temperatures for an October Saturday. We leisurely woke up around  9am and then .....

       headed for the hills...

 

... but not until we turned back home at least twice - we were only 5mintues along...turned back because we forgot something or other... the last return home though was for Duane because he forget he was still wearing his slippers - can't really hike in those now can we ( we chuckeld quite a bit over that one)

 

    It was about a 2 1/2 hour drive  through scenic state parks, winding roads and beautiful mountains.

 

 

We headed to the quaint town of Wellsboro.

Just up the road in Wellsboro was the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon- I don't know if I'd say it looks anything like the grand canyon...but it is quite large and vast...in fact..the photo, although beautiful- just isn't the same as being there.We were looking out over the east rim. 

 

 

We also took an hour and a half train ride that runs along state game lands, a wetlands perservation area and one of the many lake shores in the area- beautiful ride.

 

 

 

   I think we had the most fun though hoping from train car to train car..lol..yep...they let you walk about- there was a dinning car with tables and chairs and cute little glass votive lamps on them, <picture>

another car made me feel like I was in a bus-- only roomier - but the same kind of seats and was air conditioned. Another car had similar seats, much brighter, and seats were facing each other too. Another car had 70's decor <picture>...there was a snack bar and little seats with tables between them- cup holders where in the tables. The next car- same decor era but there was a couch that made an L shape in one of the corners with a coffee table in front and then the others were like those chairs that look like your palm cupped- and they spin around... the last car was an open air car with just benches in the middle facing each side. It was full but we ventured out for a little bit to just stand and watch the view.

    I love the fall !! I love pumkin pie, apple cider, maple syrup, corn stalks, halloween is my favorit holiday - and the foliage colors are spectacular.

 

 

We watched them press apple cider, Duane had some maple ice-cream- and of course I brought home some maple syrup and maple candies.  Beautiful day, beautiful scenery, and we had a blast! and he got some great photos.
