There are times when we do receive more of a Grand Truth category of information if it pertains also in reference to our personal life as well.  I can think it would be of benefit to have a broader perspective of these spiritual truths with the overall picture being that we can see how others throughout time have resolved differences where it brought about a higher level of compassion and forgiveness, for example, along with understanding.  Sometimes just be being too close to a personal subject we can't see the life lesson there, so a Guide will perhaps mention to us or show us an example that will give us an insight to a much broader scope of life in general.  These Grand Truths are cosmic in nature as well, and transcend the boundaries of time, so say in 10,000 years from now these Truths will still be as applicable and have merit then as they do now and have always been.  Not only do these truths become evident to us by Angels and Spirit Guides, we ourselves can focus on any given subject during meditation and apply these Truths to our lives with a specific subject theme.  It's like holding a private conversation with ourselves and seeing the references to our personal lives what is known in a cosmic universal truth and discuss and ponder the comparisons, as well.  "Be still and know that I am God" is one of these Grand Truths".  Allowing ourselves that stillness to begin this train of thought is where we can open the door to a higher level of comprehension.
