Yes, I would definitely say you are being conditioned (as in your not being so shocked that you don't react in the proper way), prepared and tested.  You are seeing positive results when you ask for the Lord and His Angels to come aid you, so with the overall theme here, it is preparing you for any such encounter you may have in your own future and there is always that element out there, which makes it necessary to prepare higher souls who volunteer to work with the Angelic Realm.  They are saying "This makes it important to regularly test to see that you don't react in fear or in anger.  Both are detrimental to progress".
