How to Make Incense Cones - By Twynlyn
Ingredients:
4 teaspoons sandalwood powder
1 teaspoon gum arabic
20 teaspoons of any one or two dried herbs
1/4 cup saltpeter
1/4 cup spring water (not tap water)
Combine first three ingredients and last two ingredients separately. Add the saltpeter and spring water blend to the base mixture a little at a time until it resembles a dough. Shape this into small cones and set them where the sun can dry them for several days. Store till ready to use.
The following is a few examples of herbs to use when making incense cones to invoke certain deites. I must stress though, that a person can use any combination of herbs that suits them best. Its up to an individual what scent draws them to a particular deity. Once you are comfortable with your choice of herbs stick with it. Consistency is the key here. Meditation is a poweful state of mind, and by using the same herbal combination it is easier to associate with it, and helps one direct their energy more easily.
Aphrodite- Call upon her when your need help with directing loving energy towards yourself. A good combination to use would be Bayberry & Rose (Rose Geranium is good as well).
Athena- Call upon her when you are overwelmed by others negative energies and you need to find inner strength and peace. Lavender and Rosemary are excellent choices.
Diana- A very poweful deity to call upon. She can aid you with many issues from love to strength. A good choice of herbs are Mulberry and Jasmine.
Astarte- She will help you strengthen your garden as well as aid you in fertility issues. Use Geranium and Vervain.
For general meditation- Frankincense and Myrrh
Money spells- burn cones that includes Patchouly and Bergamot, or Bergamot and Mint.
Protective incense- Burn cones made of Juniper. Juniper is also burned to ward off negative energy as well as wonderful to use when you wish to increase psychic ability during meditation.
