here is a simple Beltane ritual that is simple and doesn't require too many supplies...Beltane is a fire festival that brings in the summer and does away with the blocks and obstacles we want to discard...this ritual should be performed outside in the woods...if that's not possible then it can be done inside...you will need the following:
some oak leaves
some spring flowers
a bowl with water in it and some pink, blue and green floating candles
a flowered scented incense
a green and orange candle (votives that you pick up at the dollar store will be just fine)
place the green and orange candles around a circle ( i would use two of each) light them and place the incense (light it) in the middle of the circle with the bowl of floating candles in the bowl of water...strew the edge of the circle with the oak leaves and the spring flowers...light the floating candles
call on the goddess and god by saying
lady of flowers, summer bride
grace our circle with your gentle joyous presence.
Nuture our wishes, even as you nuture the child who grows in your womb
Welcome, Lady, Welcome
lord of the Greenwood, Hawk of May, swift moving stag enfold us in you gentle, fierce embrace; father, brother, healer, lover, friend
all present should then leap over the bowl of candles and say what they would like to get rid of from their lives
all present should then leap over the bowl of candles again and make a wish
this is then the time to enact the Beltaine ritual of mating (this is what Beltaine ritual is all about)
you can enact the mating process and have the fun later if you don't have the privacy you need
thank the lady and lord by simply saying
we give thanks to the lady and lord for blessing our work, and bid them farewell.
leave the candles burn out and on may morning you can give all of the things you used here back to the earth by burying them or simply leaving them in the woods
this is an easy version of this ritual and will work just as well as the more complicated one
have fun and if you don't have a partner to do it with then that's ok too...let me know and there is a chant to use instead of the enactment of the mating ritual
enjoy!
Happy Beltane
