Gifts and Secrets from Tarot Games
by Cait Johnson and Maura D. Shaw
This exercise can be done with as few as people, but is even more fun with more. It is a great way for people to get to know one another better within the context of sharing insights - a fine and gentle way to explore together.
All participants mix the cards face down, and then each person chooses four cards at random. The participants take turns putting down their cards, one by one, in the following sequence:
Card 1:
Select a card from your hand that says something about you that you would like other players to know. Describe what the card signifies to you. (Other participants are welcome to add interpretations if they wish)
Card 2:
Close your eyes and pick a card from your hand at random. Put it down in front of you and don't say a word about it yourself - let the other players tell you what they see in relation to the card you previously laid down.
Card 3:
Choose a card from your hand that you would like to give as a gift to one of the other players and put it down in front of that person. Explain its significance.
Card 4:
The last card in your hand is a wild card. It may remain your secret, or you can put it down in front of you and share its information in relation to yourself with the other players, or you may give it away as an additional gift, or you may ignore it and bury pack in the pile.
Peace,
