Recently I became the owner of a new cat. Wizard. A small black cat with a VERY bushy tail. A very affectionate one year old female. On the advise of my freind Connie, who I have nick named the Cat Whispherer, suggested that I keep the new cat in my bedroom for a week while the cat acclimates to the house.
I thought this a wise move, I have another kitty a 5 year old gray beauty that is double the size of Wizard named Zoe. Zoe is a jealous sort, so I thought it would be a good idea for her to gradually acclimate to the presence of a new kitty in the house.
The first week went by without incident so I left the bedroom door open so Wizard could begin to explore her new sourrondings at her leisure. At first things went reasoanbly well with a minumin of hissing and threatning behaviors and Zoe would normally stop after a scolding
Recently Zoe became more aggresive and started to chase Wizard upstairs, into the bedrooms and tried to corner her. I have found out that Wizard has a nervous stomach that does not do well under stress. After a few more Zoe ambushes and cleaning up a few more Wizard stomach upsets my patientce had grown thin.
Yesterday I was working in the Kitchen and heard a great commotion upstairs coming from the bedroom. I ran upstairs to refree the latest kitty battle. Zoe had sinned once too often and it was time for a baptsiem from "Jim the Baptist" Zoe screamed and wallerd and yelled has she was immersed in the sanctuary of the Holy Tub/Shower/minijacuzzi. Being Jim the Baptist and not Jim the Sprinkler she was completly immersed into the water (No I didnt hold her head under so perhaps the spiritual act did not completly take) We shall see.
I let her out and the great towl desended down upon her like a dove, well more like a really big towl. I semi dried her off and then less then gently sent her on her way down the stairs to her territory. I then went in to comfort Wizard and perhaps avoid yet another stomach upset mess.
When I had finished that task and had her purring in comfort I went back downstairs where Zoe spoke to me in tounges meooorrrw rouggh grrrr uggggh. I could be wrong but I dont believe she was praising God (or me).
Later in the evening I brought Wizard down to living room and she purred contendly in my lap and Zoe did approach and sniffed and did not hiss, though Wizard did some growling, all was well other then the occasional dirty look.
Peace has descended upon the house for now. The Kitty revival has taken root and everyone is freinds. Well at least there not beating each other up. Of course there is always the chance of a denominatonal split, but that will be another post
