Merry Meet and thank you for that wonderful tribute to my Mom. I know she would just read it and say" Pshaw" and then blush beet red. I do miss her very much. I feel like she is with me at times and that she is giving one of her "gentle" nudges (more like a two by four over the head!) when I balk at something or other. Trying to fill her shoes has really been a challenge.
She passed on all her titles to me right before she went to walk with the Goddess. The titles of Clan cheiftainess, Imperial High Crone and Priestess are very heavy to bear at times, but I feel her near by putting her foot on my hind end and pushing! That was her way, a foot and a cackle and the crone struck again!
I will try to answer your questions and concerns and do them justice and give them my full consideration with what knowledge, compassion and intuition that I have and hope I can help each and every one of you that needs it.
A little about me....
I was born into a pagan witch family, My mother being Silver Solstice and my father who was a pagan cowboy. My mothers mother was christian and english and irish but my grandfather was full blooded scots. His mother my great grandmother was my mothers famous Grimmy, a very powerful witch and healer. She taught my mother who in turn taught me. Our family history covers a period of over 750 years that we can trace as it thru our family book of Shadows. It goes back futher but the written history begins in 1250's. We are a branch of the Wallace clan and originated in Wales. I cut my teeth on simple spells, stories of dragons, colorful crystals and my first wand was a wooden kitchen spoon!
Growing up in a very different family from the main stream I along with my siblings was taught magick, history, diviniation and all the stuff that goes with being pagan at a very young age, But, my mother made us learn about other religions and every month we pretended to be one of these. One month buddist, one month catholic, one month, babtist, one month mormon, although we got a really good dose of Mormanism from my grandmother who was of this faith. We learned to understand and tolerate others for thier differences and learned one of my mothers basic tenents, Live and let Live. We also celebrated not only the sabbats and esbats but christian holidays too. She made sure we fit in with our school friends and with society in general all the time living our own beliefs as well. It gave us all a very broad outlook on life and people.
I have just acquired my PhD in Philosophy of Religion, I am a self supporting professional artist. I am handicapped and stuck with walking with the support of canes and sometimes a wheel chair (not too bad I have a motor on it) due to a bad accident with horses. Just like my mom.....she injured her leg and Shortly after I really did destroy both of mine . The left is okay now but arthritis is setting in due to over compensation for the wrecked right one. I am having the third knee replacement surgery in January with a new proto type knee joint so keep your fingers crossed. My mom told me I was a copy cat and just wanted to be her twin, I told her it was a sympathy injury. LOL
I love to cook and am crafty too. I make one of a kind teddy bears and rabbits, design cross stitch which I learned from my mom. I am working on some new pagan designs but am closing my design site down. I will be selling them on my art studio site on a special page and on e-bay and may offer them on each of the boards I post too. I read alot, love movies, classical, new age and gregorian chant music. I garden and grow my own herbs. I love cats and have four of them, a fish pond, three yorkshire terriers, and a cage of finches. Oh, I forgot the hedgehog family that lives in my God garden and the squirrels that live in my Goddess gardern tree. I love to cook and am in the process of writing a kitchen witch cook book. I am also writing a book of prose and essays on the turning of the wheel.
I support myself with sales and commissions from my art as well as thru grants for artists and sponsorships. I was turned down this year by the orgainizations that usually fund me and have for the last three years due to some policy changes on location. So, I am left with begging for sponsors.
I head an active coven here in Germany that is a total ecclectic coven. We do a lot of community work and animal rescue work.
I am 52 years old and American and live in Germany with my daughter who trains horses here. We, my mother and I, came here to be close to her. I have a son over in the states who is pagan as well. My oldest daughter has completely disowned the entire pagan family and has absolutely nothing to do with us. She is a born again christiam and is really a fanatic and we are all going to hell for our beliefs....So, i never get to see my grandchildren.
Lady Beast, Inanna and all you others meant so much to my mother and she constantly talked about you and made me promise to continue with my studies, my art , the coven she founded and with keeping her boards alive. I hope to be able to do her justice.
Thank you for the opportunity to do so.
Blessed Be,
Lady Dragon Fyre, PhD (I just had to put that on there! he he he!)
