Two Precepts of Reiki
There are two "precepts" of Reiki, which should clear up any questions or misunderstandings about the use and exchange of it. 1. THE PERSON MUST ASK. The client must ask to be healed, and in asking, state, "I want to change; I want to alter my state of existence." In asking, the person is putting forth a conscious decision to become involved. The request may also be made on the soul level. It is really from the soul level that the person asks for a healing, whether the request is verbalized or not. As a Reiki practitioner, you are a channel through which the Reiki energy flows. It is essential to listen to the request of the soul and respond with service. Included in the Precept is the use of the "leading question". The practitoner may suggest a Reiki treatment to someone they feel wants one but is too shy to ask or simply does not know that such energy is available. 2. THERE MUST BE AN EXCHANGE OF ENERGY FOR SERVICE. The healing energy belongs to the universe, to Spirit. However, there must be a creative exchange between the recipient and the person whose time and services the recipient is accepting. Energy exchange can be anything from money to an exchange of services between the recipient and the Reiki practitioner. Reiki practitioners offering healing services on a professional level establish a fee. Any exchange, financial or otherwise that is mutually agreed upon is acceptable. The exchange puts a value on the service which ultimately reflects the feelings of worthiness and self love of both the person seeking to improve their state of health and the practitioner.
