The books I've found most helpful are

_The Wizard of Oz and Other Narcissists_ by Eleanor D. Payson, M.S.W.

and _Help!  I'm in Love with a Narcissist_ by Steven Carter and Julia Sokol.

Just wondering about others?

_Snakes in Suits_ wasn't bad either regarding the more psychopathic Ns.

Thanks all!

Why Does he Do That? (Inside the Minds of Angry and Controlling Men) by Lundy Bancroft

and....

Men Who Hate Women and the Women Who Love Them by Susan Forward

I have read many recently but these two I found particularly helpful,

Hi! Great post,
I love...
"Men who can't love" by Carter and Sokol(all their books are great)
"He's so Vain" by Lisa Scott
"Why does he do that: Inside the Minds of Angry and Controlling men" by Lundy Bancroft
"Narcissistic  Lovers" by Zayn and Dibble

Happy reading! Knowledge is power.

I liked Robert Hare's "Without Conscience" more than any other book on the subject, more than Martha Stout's book, more than Lundy Bancroft's book. It was more scientific, more quantitative, less speculative.

If I were going to get a psychology book, I'd go for the Stalking the Soul, which has already been mentioned. You can read a few pages at books.google.com.

But, I'd generally rather read research papers. For all the stuff written about Ns, the hard quantitative aspect of the literature is almost completely neglected.

Have to agree with Why Does He Do That by Lundy Bancroft. I would also recommend Women Who Love Psychopaths by Sandra L. Brown. I got this book last week and read it in one night. This book is based on women who were involved with N/Ps and let me tell you it was spot on in describing my relationship with the N to the point that most of the book is highlighted.
