As it's Valentines Day, I am convinced I should be somewhere else other than a basketball match in the coastal town of Brighton, but tonight's game is a special one. The Bears have a guest player in the rather large from of Dennis Rodman.
After his stint in the car crash TV show Celebrity Big Brother he is fitting in as such for publicity as he can, but I don't mind, it's something I have never experienced before.
The Brighton Centre is a tiny venue compared to the stadiums of the USA, but the enthusiastic crowd makes a lot of noise as he enters the court.
I am suprised how much like a rock concert the whole affair is, loud music and groupies to rival any heavy metal band, but it is entertaining, and Rodman is clearly enjoying his UK found fame.
The team they are playing are top in the UK league, and even though he put on a good show for the media, the Bears lost 75-85. The crowd doesn't seem to mind. Rodman saunters past me on the way to the changing room, and he is one intimidating character even without all his piercings.
Not a bad way to spend what's supposed to be the most romantic day of the year!!
