The Scissor Sisters are the biggest band around at the moment according to the fans outside the Concorde 2 in Brighton. Considering this was 2004 and the start of their UK small venue tour, the fact the fans are queing at 2.00pm in the afternoon means something. We hang around and chat to them and as we do the band arrives.
Shears, Ana Matronic and Baby Daddy come straight over to see their fans and plainly dressed you wouldn't recognise them. They are lovely and decide as it such a nice sunny afternoon to share a few minutes on the beach with their fans, something I dont even think they can believe.
Jake Shears poses for pictures, then apologises as they have to soundcheck. We chat to Ana Matronic who tells us how fabulous Brighton is and the people are so friendly, then dissapears to the dressing room. Tonight there are many dissapointed fans who can't get in as the venue is so small... far too small for this band, but they sound and look amazing. After seeing how successful they have become, I doubt if we will get the chance to have a few chilled moments with them again... but it is a nice memory.
