As one of the world’s premier aerobatic teams, The Red Arrows are the public face of the Royal Air Force. The Red Arrows exist to demonstrate the professional excellence of the RAF and promote recruitment to the RAF. Evidence shows that The Red Arrows have inspired a significant number of people to join the RAF, both as officers, airmen and to all trades, not just aircrew.
The Team contributes to Defence Diplomacy and supports wider British interests, through the promotion of British industry overseas. The Hawk aircraft flown by the Team and most of its components are all British made. Thus during overseas tours, The Red Arrows demonstrate both British skill and British technology to an enormous number of people each year.
Today, the team are giving the Summer holiday makers of popular tourist spot Bournemouth a show to remember. Right at midday the aircraft arrive and perform with skill and precision. It is amazing to watch and the weather couldn't be better. There are so many boats moored by the pier and the RAF volunteer thinks... at least 50 thousand people have turned out to watch. Everyones' head is tilted high to catch all of the show. The highlight for me was two planes creating a love heart in the sky and one flies through creating an arrow. Everyone applauds and before you know it, the 30 minute show is over and they leave as fast as they arrived. It was truly amazing an amazing performance!
