Calling all grapple fans!
A real treat for all fans of UK wrestling today, one of the last remaining heros of the UK wrestling world, Kendo Nagasaki, is here in Trowbridge for a rare one-off signing for his book The Grapple Manual. This book tells of the worlds best loved wrestlers from WWF and the UK and gives a secret insight into all the special moves and tricks of the trade.
The queue is long and the fans vary in ages from Grandmas to children. One of my fondest memories of childhood is spending Saturday afternoons at my Grandparents whilst the wrestling was on the TV. It was fun! They took it so seriously--bit of an English Institution I think!
Kendo arrives with his manager and minder, not that he would ever need him. We learn he never speaks, he only bows and raises his hand with his trademark glove with an eye symbol to great his fans. Kendo's top part of his finger is missing which is a true sign that it is actually him at events, apparently he lost the tip of it in a Samauri sword accident! He also wears his trademark face mask, which has only ever come off once and sort of spoilt the mystery. Kendo has been wrestling for over 40 years now, and in the evening he will be honoured at the Trowbridge Town Hall with a lifetime achievement award for contribution to the sport.
