It's a bitterly cold February morning, but the sun is shining as slight snow falls.  Today's event has called for maximum security as the Queen of England, Elizabeth II,  is officially opening the newly combined Battle and Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading, Berkshire. Luckily for me, this is just near home.

Despite the cold the Queen arrives wearing a green summery outfit with bright pink lipstick and a big smile for all the people who have gathered to great her.  The nurses and doctors give her a small tour of the new wards, and she is presented with a bouquet from a local school girl.

Our Monarch will be celebrating her 80th Birthday in April, and noting how many public appearances she still does, she looks marvelous for her age.
