Terry Pratchett sold his first short story at 13 years of age and was first published at the age of 23.  He went into and left journalism in his 30's.  Oddly enough, he worked as a press officer for Central Southern Electricity Generating Board. Deciding this was not the path he wanted to take, he went back to writing and the worldwide hit "Discworld" was born in 1983.

 

He has an OBE and tells us he is passionate about orangutangs and doesnt give a monkey's a**,  about much else!  But if you had sold over 27 million books,  who would need to!

 

He is famous for wearing his big felt black hat and is rarely seen without it.
