Switch... What do you think about artist that use their music to do movies or commercials? You think they're selling out or does the tune stay on the public mind easier.
Chris... Yeah we'd love to do soundtrack stuff. As far as Tv commercials go, it would have to be for the right product. It would be a bit of a sell-out to do some cheesy advert. I'd love to hear one of our songs on a Tampon or Thrush advert!!
We have actually got the oppurtunity to get some of stuff onto soundtracks. The Guys who signed 'HIM' and 'The Hives' are signing us to a Publishing Deal. They are expanding their new company into TV and Film and want to submit our stuff. So yeah, I do think it's a good idea, but only when used in the right way...
Switch...What kind of venues do you play and do you see a difference in crowds from location to location?
Chris... We play shows at Pubs, mainly for the cash, but always win over a tough crowd. We play The Clubs to expand our Fanbase and have played a coupla mini-festivals and conventions. We usually approach all shows the same as we play, as tho we are at Wembley Stadium, even if we are only playing at some crappy little pub in the middle of nowhere!
Switch... When playing are men or women more receptive to your sound? If so, why?
Chris... Id say we get a great response from both Men and Women. We have teenagers and old guys coming upto us after shows complementing us, as well as Chicks of all ages... so its always a good sign when you find that you appeal to a wide audience. I think our audience is pretty much universal in terms of the type of people that like us.
Switch... Several musicians I have interviewed talked about being in the zone. A time when they could do no wrong, the music flowed perfectly and the audience was swept up in the experience. All have indicated it has to do with a feeling.
It's a mysterious thing and some musicians are uncomfortable discussing it. If you have felt this and aren't uncomfortable talking about it, can you describe the experience?
Chris... Id say that I have felt like that and alot of the time it happens when you are not even aware of it. You begin to notice, when the audience reacts to it. Then you either start messing up or embracing it... performing even better. It can happen when you are either angry at something that has happened to the band collectively and just play like a beast! OR when everyone is relaxed.
Sometimes pressure can make you come through and perform better, as it can in band arguments! Its strange, but its best not to pin it down to anything specific for fear of losing the ability to do it!
Chris... Switch... Will you tell Joe King, that I said "Howdy" .. LOL
Switch... You've met Joe?
Chris... Yeah me and Joe king go back all the way to the 60's. We used to do bongs and hashish together. LOL.. we partied through the 70's and then partied out way too much during the 80's. Once we had to beat a shopkeeper up with his own slippers just to get ozzy his Brown M&M's....
Switch... Uhh. OK Chris. I'll pass the message to him.
