A very special evening lay ahead tonight, with the hugely popular TV presenter Gloria Hunniford. She is here to open her heart and talk about her new book, in which she bravely tells of her daughter Caron's untimely death to breast cancer. Some cynics might say that she is cashing in on a private family matter, but I feel this must help her deal with a tragic time in her life.
Despite the painful evenings talk, she is professional, gracious, and she greets all the press with hugs and smiles.
Gloria Hunniford was the first woman to have her own daily radio show on Radio 2, which she presented for thirteen years until 1995. As a major celebrity, she appears on numerous programs including Gloria Live, Wogan, Holiday, Songs of Praise, and Kilroy.
Open House with Gloria Hunniford gave Channel 5 its highest ever ratings. She has won many prestigious awards, including TV Personality of the Year and Best Dressed Female. She also has made a highly successful health and exercise video called Fit for Life.
I somehow think there will not be a dry eye in the theatre tonight. She was so gracious to us all, we left her to her intimate evening.
We wish her the best of luck.
