It's a damn hot day! Too hot to be stuck in a field, but the jobs got to be done...and it could be worse as the classic line in Young Frankenstein says 'It could be raining'!
The Whitchurch Primary School in Berkshire are holding a charity event. They are raising money for various charities, and for the event they have enlisted the help of Lashings World XI the celebrity star cricket match.
Not being a great fan of the sport I only recognise one name, Courtney Walsh, but judging by the size of the crowd more people do than don't!
The village cricket team are playing the celeb side which includes players from all over the world: the West Indies, Jamaica, and the UK. The only woman on the team is Clare Connor, she recently won the women's ashes for cricket in 2005.
They are a fantastic bunch of people and take time out to give the young pupils lessons in the sport until it gets too hot, and by this time the Pimms tent is looking good!
The team give it all they have, but no-one really expects the likes of Phil Defreitas and Alvin Kallicharran to give them an easy time and they lose by 260 runs!
After the event a jazz band plays and the crowd gets slightly tipsy after an exciting but hot day for good causes.
