After arriving at a very windy Brighton we picked up our guest passes and found our spot. The crowd was brilliant a mix of old and new; whole families all dressed up in their best metal gear!
Always being a big fan of hair metal I was really looking forward to seeing Twisted Sister. The original line up had got back together again and they were fabulous! Dee came out in full make up and rock regalia, he looked like a demented Blackpool landlady, but boy can he still belt out those old Sister classics. They played Destroyer, I am I'm me, and just about every song they had. We even forgave the drummer when he forgot a song!
Entertainment factor 10+! The crowd didn't want them to leave the stage. After turning the lights up so he could have a look at us all, he got us to shout out some very unsavoury words. They left but came back for an encore. They played flawlessly, and the sound was excellent. Apart from Dee popping backstage after every song for a little pick me up, I dont think I have had so much fun at a concert in years!
Alice Cooper always entertains, the band are tight, and his daughter Calico entertains the males in the crowd. He played a lot of new material from Dirty Diamonds, and of course the old classics. The snake made an appearance as did the guilloutine and the balloons in the crowd.
After three and a half hours I was all rocked out, but I must admit Twisted Sister made the night for me...I am still smiling now!
Highlight of the night: feeling like a teenager again and having neck and armache!
Lowlight of the night: being stuck by a 38 year-old woman who had never been to a concert in her life, and who hated metal and loved soul...next time if you're not enjoying it, buggar off and leave us to it!
